The informative, but over–used color wheel circle has been re-imagined. This mixed media collage, Dreaming in Color, celebrates diversity and honors Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It presents the ordinary color wheel in an extraordinary way, and won a silver award at the local American Advertising Awards.
First, the portrait template was sketched out on 8 x 10 inch cardboard. Magazines were searched to find the twelve colors, and organized in files. Then, tiny pieces of paper were carefully cut from those pages, and glued to appropriate places on the template. This process took between twenty-five to thirty hours to create this portrait, commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech, I Have a Dream.
