The image featured in this editorial spread was created on cardboard; using rope to define the lines of Gene Wilder's hair, face, and clothing. Gesso was used to build up and fill in areas to create the actor's appropriate texture and features, then was painted with vibrant colors of acrylic paint. Copper wire was used to add texture to the hair, and to add definition to Gene's shirt. The portrait illustration was then photographed and processed in Adobe Photoshop to increase contrast and color saturation. Adobe InDesign was used design the page layout.
This Gene Wilder Illustration and Spread won a silver award at the American Advertising Federation of Central Minnesota.
